Hello Kitty Junkies’ Craft Meet-Up Recap

February 2nd, 2010 by hellokittyjunkie
Respond

Domo arigato to all the Hello Kitty Junkies who came out to the HKJs Craft Meet-Up! And a super special thanks to *Jordan* for organizing the event! She did an AWESOME JOB — so awesome that I am officially putting her in charge of organizing any future craft meet-ups! n_~

*True story* I arrived at the parking lot near the Japanese American National Museum just as Jordan and Cynthia did… And it was also the exact same time that my super a-maaa-zing Creative Director boss, Joel, and his beautiful family arrived! I was kinda embarrassed… I mean, people I know in real life KNOW about my addiction/infatuation/obsession, but rarely do they SEE it in person! O_O I guess I cannot hide my true self anymore! As any Junkie would do, I invited Joel and his beautiful fam to come stop by the craft meet-up… And they did! Since baby Chloe is not even two yet, she could not really join the crafting fun. o_O But I think she liked the lollipop I gave her… What baby doesn’t like candy? n_n

Anyway, Joel told everyone during the Monday morning meeting about my Hello Kitty meet-up… Which means I am a validated Hello Kitty Junkie… =n_n=

Here are some photos from the event:

Amber takes her time to choose the perfect stationery for her Valentines…

Sarah and Liz get creative with their crafts…

Dorothy, Bellerina (rockin’ my hoodie) and Jordan

*I stole Jewelyn’s photo* because she is so kawaii and you can see my D-Mop x Kitty Lab outfit I got from Taipei! @____@

Chelsea picked out my gift during the gift exchange, which was a Hello Kitty ocarina! She played “Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star” so well that I requested Lady GaGa!

Carla lucked out by choosing this cuuute cupcake Hello Kitty plushie! Remember this from Target last year? I think it was available around this time of year… Yes, I was *jelly*

This is what I got from the gift exchange — thanks to HKGuy!

Ana (wish I had her kawaii dimples) and Christina (wish I could dye my hair that color) had fun! *Smiles* don’t lie! :) :)

Monica won a super kawaii plushie from the raffle! Ahhhh!!! I was so *jelly* @____@

Hello Kitty Junkies get their craft on!

My Valentines… Who will I give them to!?

Isn’t Amber’s Valentine so cuuute!?

Toki-chan got creative with some origami skills!

Another Toki-chan creation…

I am *totally* stealing this idea! n_n

So much cuteness!

We did manage to get a partial group shot before we headed out to my *fave* Sanrio shop… I made a quick stop to pick up a new *Gotochi Hello Kitty* book from Kinokuniya @____@ before I headed on over to JapanLA… And then lastly to Lala’s Argentine Grill! ;P Hopefully we can meet up again soon!

Check out all of my photos from this event! n_n

Holy Hello Kitty Plushies!

January 26th, 2010 by hellokittyjunkie
Respond

I cannot resist Hello Kitty plushies! I feel a bit silly going goo-goo gaa-gaa over these little stuffed animals… But seriously, I cannot resist! While I was in Taiwan, I picked up a few plushies – some old, some new, some inexpensive ($249 TWD = $7.78 USD), some a little more $$$$ than I wanted to pay… Oh! The things I will do for Kitty-chan! @______@

Sleeping Kitty-chan is kawaii, neh!? She is perfect for a small nap pillow…

Blue Kitty (Hello Kitty x Blue Teddy collabo)…

This Pink Ribbon Hello Kitty was released in 2009 to raise awareness for breast cancer (part of the sales were donated to the cause as well)… She is SOOO adorable with her strawberries!

This kawaii little strawberry Hello Kitty plushie definitely passed “Jill’s Hello Kitty Plush Test” — there are three components that make a Sanrio plush a “Grade A” level:

  1. Made of super soft material
  2. Little feet must be able to move freely
  3. Little balls (plastic pellets — what beanie babies have inside them) in the booty

Love her pink satin outfit!

Her moving feet! n_~

Hello Kitty plushie from the Happy Sanrio Winter series that I *love* so much! @_@

Kitty-chan looks so adorable when she *blushes* n_n

Ahhh! So much pink together makes my heart *smile*

While this is not *new* by any means, I still wanted to have this in my collection. My friend Amandabot (who is not a Hello Kitty fan) even likes it — she says it does not look like Hello Kitty… I do not know the official name of this series… Anybody?

That’s all for now… n_n

2010 Gotochi Hello Kitty Calendar

January 25th, 2010 by hellokittyjunkie
Respond

I got a new calendar to keep track of all the events in 2010… And it just so happens to be a Gotochi Hello Kitty wall calendar! I got it at the book shop inside Mitsuwa (Santa Monica location) a couple of months ago. It splits the year up by weeks, which is super duper *awesome* because that means there are more illustrations for me to look at (and I am always amazed by the creativity of what Kitty-chan is costumed in)! @_@ I have not hung it on the wall yet (and don’t think I will anytime soon) because I do not want to ruin it… The price you have to pay for being an über obsessive Hello Kitty Junkie… I guess? o_O

And speaking of events in 2010… The HKJs Craft Meet-up is this Saturday from 11-3 in Little Tokyo! If you have any questions, make sure to contact Jordan because she knows what’s up! I hope I see some familiar faces! *____*

At first, I was just going to upload a few images… But I could not decide because there are too many kawaii Kitties! @_@ And there are some silly ones too!
