Hello Kitty-sicle Stenciled Shirt

May 8th, 2008 by hellokittyjunkie

I cut out three stencils so far and my index and middle finger on the right hurts like crazy! There is a lot of pain I endure just to make some customized stenciled Hello Kittified goodies for my friends and I… I usually start off with simple sketches on paper. I also look at current trends that I am into. I made a template in Adobe Illustrator and started placing the elements I want to use:

I printed out the graphics and tried to size them up and I started to get busy:

I print out the graphics to the size I want and I use a glue stick or spray mount the paper to cardstock, or in this case, a manila folder.

One of the not-so-fun parts of stenciling = cutting out the details. I would probably enjoy it a lot more if I didn’t put too much pressure on my fingers, but that is something I have never been able to figure out how to control…

My index finger started turning red when I started cutting the letters. It is hard to tell in the image, but it started hurting like crazy. I only endured enough pain to finish off the letters, then I called it a night.

The good thing about stencils is that you do not have to cut them out perfectly. Having the rough edges gives it more of a street and urban feel, which is perfect for stencils. It also makes the design more customized and unique.

Trying out some different placements before I commit with the black spray paint:

We need to go Tee Plus!! I think they might look super cute with popsicle-type colored shirts… like purple or orange.
