Just wanted to share my stenciling projects I have been working on this past week. I have some important tips that are super helpful for beginners:
- Do not stencil when it is windy, it really bites!
- If you are messy, wear gloves
- Clean as you work (good rule for all art projects)
- Make sure to mask off everything
- Glue your stencil down (light spray mount is quick and easy)
- Have patience
- And finally, have fun!

This is what happens when you don’t have enough patience… I thought, “Hmmm… I don’t feel like putting glue on the back of my Hello Kitty skeleton stencil… I don’t need it because this is pretty small…”
Well, I knew better so I’m kind of mad at myself. Anyway, I let that sit for a long time (hours?) and stenciled the back:
This is the progress of an I Love KT stenciled tote bag. Since I am using two colors, I need to stencil one color first… Let it dry… Then stencil the second color… Which is made much easier if you have some sort of registration system going on…

Wow what a great idea! They look professionally done great job! You should definitely sell them if possible.
We love Hello Kitty and so I did my granddaughter’s room in HK from top to bottom. I worked hard, I even painted a picture on the wall and I cannot draw. The room is adorable!
I am going to try batik dyeing and Hello Kitty is about to be my first attempt from a coloring picture that I have traced on a shirt.
