Wanna Chat About Hello Kitty?

Some of you may have noticed that I have been trying out some different options for adding a chat feature to Hello Kitty Junkie. My mentor Amul recommended a few options for me (he has so many fantastic ideas, that it is hard just to keep up with where his mind is at)…

And the best one is now installed on this page (firefly is awesome — I already told the genius minds over there). I am close to retarded when it comes to coding… So I had to ask my friends Jeff and Nick for help (thank goodness I know some very intelligent fellas)… I would seriously be lost without all the smartie pants in my life! ^-^

Okay, so here is a short little tutorial (I took some screen shots):

1. You should notice a nifty little bar at the bottom right hand corner of this page (kinda like Facebook if anyone is familiar with that):

2. You activate the chat mode by clicking “Start Chatting,” there will be a slight yellow-ish overlay on top of this page and you will be greeted with a “Welcome” message:

3. Type whatever you want — KEEP IT CLEAN PLEASE and BE CAREFUL — everyone is able to read your chat! If you click on “Help” some very helpful bubbles will pop up:

4. Customizing your cursor and avatar can be quite fun! There are many to choose from — but I am hoping there will be some pixel Hello Kitty on there soon (Maybe I should send in a request!?):

5. So here is what it looks like when a few people are in chat mode interacting with each other… Pretty cool, right!? (btw, that is Joy’s avatar in the talk bubble!):

6. Another helpful hint when you sign on to chat:

7. The bottom bar will indicate when someone else is available for chat. Don’t be sad if nobody is available. Why not invite one of your buddies to come check it out? ^-^

8. This is a kittitastic feature — the timeline! If you are nosey (like me) you like to see what other Hello Kitty Junkie visitors are chatting about. Well, firefly actually lets you scroll through the timeline to see who was on and what they said! I find that amazing… And I just love how the talk bubbles appear and disappear… And when someone signs off — it is beautiful. Great minds were at work when designing and developing this chat:

10. Alrighty! My short little tutorial wasn’t really what I said it would be… But if you read through the steps, you should be all set to begin interacting with other visitors! It is simple and fun (imo).

11. And one last note: hit “Close” to exit the chat mode… But I don’t know why you would want to. I believe this is the cutest chat some of you guys will ever experience!

I know this isn’t as clear as taking an actual video… So I will try to get that up with the help of my awesome friend Amul! (If he has time to help me)… Hope to see you guys in chat!
