Hello Kitty Junkie

Acknowledging my serious addiction…

Goodbye Manila

September 16th, 2008 by hellokittyjunkie

Hello Kitty and I are back home… Actually, we got in over the weekend but I still feel a little jet-lagged. Towards the end of the trip, we went to Batangas (four hour drive from the QC)… It was so much fun before it started pouring cats and dogs.

I’m really glad I got to travel to a different country. But one thing is for sure:  I do not want to travel to Asia without someone who lives there (like Amandabot or Joii)! I believe my having a good time depended mostly on the family I stayed with — Brian’s fam is 100% awesome! I love them like they’re my own relatives and I felt very much at home… Awww… So many good memories.

Tita Sette even took me to get my nails done — Hello Kittified — and it was completely her idea! ^_^

Her friend owns a nail salon inside the Greenhills Shopping Center… And she treated me to a Hello Kitty manicure and pedicure (not that she hadn’t already done enough for me)… I chose the image I wanted for my nails… Got a manicure… Put my hands inside a printing machine… And Voila! My toenails are pretty small so I got a different design on them — I guess Kitty’s big head was not going to fit.

Oh boy! It seems like I was not even there for three weeks! Time goes by faster when you’re enjoying everything! My top three favorite foods I ate in Manila are… 1. Halo-halo 2. Turón 3. Lechón (Sapin-sapin and anything with ube is up there too)… Fresh fruits I enjoyed for my very first time are durian, rambutan, marong and mango (I have eaten mangos before but the ones from the Philippines are different). I ate a full breakfast, lunch and dinner everyday — with rice and meat during every single meal… And I gained 10 lbs., which is actually a little less than what Brian told me I would be putting on.

My favorite Gift Gate is either the one in TriNoma or Greenhills (out of the four I went to)… My favorite family to stay with… The Marquez fam, without a doubt! And the De Los Reyes fam are great (Charisse’s fam took care of me for a few days too)!

There is one regret I have — I never got to meet up with any of my Hello Kitty buddies (Kittymama and Sassy)… I’m sorry — hopefully next time — when there is no crazy wedding schedule. Oh yeah! And touching the puffer fish and getting a fat lip for it!

Share the kittilicious love!

  • P.S What is the name of the nail salon in Greenhills that you went to? I've been there thousands of times but I didn't know you can get Hello Kitty nails! :-)
  • Hi, Maria! I was waiting for you to email me for our dinner out but I understand you had a ton of things to do during your stay. I would have wanted very much to at least meet you in person and give you my gift.

I'm so glad you enjoyed your stay in the Philippines, however brief it was. Maybe when I go to the US next year, I'll drop in on you and we can catch up then.

Looking forward to pictures you took!

    Hugs,
    Kittymama
