Back in the day when I was in school, I used to take extra units if I was able to so I could squeeze in some extra Art classes. One of my favorite classes was an Intro to 3D class taught by one of my all-time favorite professors Robert Walker (I studied Art History with him too… And I don’t think I fell asleep much when he taught compared to the lady).
One of the many things I loved about this teacher was he let me do whatever I wanted… And just helped me create the best thing I could at the time. He even taught me it was okay to create artwork that dealt with youthful themes, which can often be looked upon as childish or juvenile (adjectives I do not really like when discussing my work). What he told me was something like, “there is nothing wrong with exploring themes dealing with childhood, innocence and nostalgia.” And that is pretty much the story of my life!
Anyway… Here is a scanned image from my scrapbook:
The project had to do with taking something from your childhood and either making it bigger or shrinking it down. I chose to make my tiny Hello Kitty eraser bigger. As you can see, I had some issues with proportions…
My Mom laughed when I was working on this… She said big Kitty-chan definitely needed to go on a diet!
Just wanted to share. I love seeing other people’s Hello Kitty inspired projects — so if you have any, share! ^_^
