My friend Dan came in from New York to visit LA and do some freelance work. He dropped off his car rental in Melrose, which means it was the purrr-fect day to visit the über kawaii JapanLA! Yes, this is me being all tourist-like in front the shop, which is located on Fuller (close Melrose and La Brea).
It is kawaii heaven inside. This shop is not huge, but there are many many cute things. And they carry more Hello Kitty merch than Happy Six. Actually, each store carries different stuff too so I really enjoy both stores.
I hope to have a room in my house like the inside of the store… You know, surrounded by cuteness everywhere! One of these days… ^_^
Look at these plushies! They are so cute for the holidays… I saw some similar plushies on Sanrio Japan’s site…
And remember those super cute Hello Kitty Ice Cream Cones and super soft fuzzy Hello Kitty animals from JapanLA? I sifted through all of the ones that were out on the shelf… The plushies were all neatly displayed before I went to inspect each and every one of them! Some people think they are all the same… But I know that some things are better made than others — even when they are mass produced. The stitching might be off or something might be crooked — and that is what I was checking for.
I love this huge Hello Kitty plushie… I have a smaller version of it. And that big strawberry head Hello Kitty is so funny! Her body is maybe like 10% the size of her gigantic head! Lol!
So… What did I pick up? These are some of the things I went home with…
I originally wanted the panda and the pink bunny… But they ran out! ::sad face:: I really wanted those two! I did not cry when I found out there were no more, instead I compromised and chose this doggy…
One thing that I was eyeing all this time was the pink Hello Kitty ice cream cone! Thank goodness I got it! My heart would have been broken if I did not get this pink Kitty ice cream cone… I mean, look how kawaii this is!
So yummy!
I got another one with a double scoop…
And I found these stamps in the discount bin! I would recommend anybody who goes into that store to check out the discount bins because there are some good deals in there! And expect to stay in the store for at least 30 minutes… You need that time to look through everything and make good decisions.
It is difficult to walk out of any store that sells charms…
Last but not least… I got the last white Hello Kitty tea kettle! (at least the last one for now at JapanLA, as told to me by Mariko, who was very patient with me going back and forth from the shelves to the register).
I also got a kittirific surprise from Dan — pink Hello Kitty cherry plushies. Did you know they have yellow ones at the store too!? The neat thing is, you can separate the cherries and pair them up with different colored ones… Yes, I need those yellow ones… And the red ones… And the light pink ones…
And he picked out this dragon charm for me. ^_^
I also scored a couple of small trinkets for JamyKitty, my swap partner on Flickr’s Hello Kitty addicts and Helene… After all, Helene’s Birthday is coming up. Can you believe she was born on November 1st!? That is Hello Kitty’s Birthday! How does one get so lucky!? ^_^
