Pink Hello Kitty Bunny Felt Toy

November 13th, 2008 by hellokittyjunkie

I found images and diagrams on how to make these cute Hello Kitty felt toys online so I decided to take a stab at making one (and for some strange reason, I cannot find the exact urls to share! Argh! I will keep looking and update if/wen I find them)…

I started with her face just in case I got lazy and did not want to finish the rest of her body…

Pink Hello Kitty Bunny Felt Toy Head

Lol… I really like this image because it looks like she is holding her head…

One more foot to sew on!

Detail view of what the most difficult part for me was — adding the eyes, nose and whiskers — which were one of the first things I sewed on…

She came out ok for the first try. But if this was for a class/client, this is definitely a practice round and I would be improving on the final one…

She can take her bunny hoodie off when she feels like it…

I added a safety pin to her red bow because I was not sure how exactly to attach this part… So I compromised and came up with this option. Maybe I can even make different colored bows so she can accessorize!

Proof that sewing is not my strong point at all… And I wish I had thought to give her a cute little bunny tail! o_O Perhaps next time!

Any tips or suggestions on how to make felt toys would be very much appreciated… Like, “Hey — next time sew on the whiskers,” or “Why don’t you embroider the eyes and nose?” ^_^

Nice try Maria ! That’s really cute !

Some tips: You could have sew her bow in the middle, two or three times.
For the back of your Kitty: just sew “smaller”, so you red thread wont show that much ^^
(Sorry, but I don’t know the English sewing terms, so.. ! But I hop it helps ^^)

TIP: use blanket stitch. it looks neater cos it has an outline which gives it the cute stich-y look, which is used a lot for most felt plushies. Plus when you use blanket stitch, you tend to make the stiches more evenly with more space apart, compared to whipstitch, where you’ll tend to sew anywhere, making it look uneven, and too close to each other, taking longer to sew around. TO ANYONE THAT WANTS TO MAKE FELT PLUSHIES: you dont need a diagram of this, just look up hellokitty on google images and find a basic picture and just follow that. you just need to cut out shapes (front & back), sew around, leave a hole to stuff in pillow stuffing, then continue sewing around, then sew parts together. since its flat, its quite easy, no diagram needed
