Minnetonka for Hello Kitty Collaboration Fall 2014

Official press release below:

Sanrio, best known for global pop icon Hello Kitty, and renowned global moccasin brand Minnetonka, have revealed their collaboration plans for Fall 2014. In celebration of Hello Kitty’s 40th Anniversary, two Minnetonka for Hello Kitty collections will be offered – one for kids, and one for women. The collections will feature a moccasin style as well as a fringe ankle boot in a suede color palette that includes hot pink, brown, dusty brown, and black. Both collections will debut at retail in July.

“We celebrate a major milestone this year with Hello Kitty’s 40th Anniversary and our collaboration with Minnetonka plays an integral part in the celebration,” said David Marchi, Sr. Director of Brand Management and Marketing of Sanrio, Inc. “Fusing the classic moccasin styles of Minnetonka with the iconic designs of Hello Kitty, the new collection will resonate with fans of both brands.”

“Minnetonka and Hello Kitty are both memory brands that are passed down for generations. Parents who grew up wearing Minnetonka or Hello Kitty as a child are now sharing that brand love with their own children. Both brands generate a feeling of nostalgia, as well as contemporary relevance. Those synergies are what brought us get together for this collaboration,” said Kalyn Waters, Minnetonka Director of Marketing.

The Minnetonka for Hello Kitty collections were designed based on two popular Minnetonka styles that were then accentuated with classic Hello Kitty icons, including her famous bow. “Fall 2014 trends are favoring fringe, as well as pop art, so we believe that the Minnetonka for Hello Kitty collections will be a unique combination that will really excite both Minnetonka and Hello Kitty fans of all ages,” said Waters.

Kid’s mocs are priced at $39.95, with the boot priced at $49.95. Women’s mocs will be offered at $49.95, and the boot priced at $69.95.

AGENDA Sighting: Hello Kitty Shoes By Twenty10 Footwear

I was really happy I got to attend AGENDA (Trade Show for streetwear and action sports industries) for one day last week! I represented for tokidoki and TKDK, of course — but guess who else was there!? @___@

Yup! The good people at Twenty10 Footwear had a booth showing off the latest and greatest in kittitastic footwear! And of course, they were kind enough to let me take pix and share with my Junkies! n__n

The booth showcased footwear that have already made an appearance, as well as footwear that will be released this year… Might need a pair or two flip flops — especially in California since I wear them all year round. I even enjoy wearing flip flops inside my apartment. n__n

I really adore the Hello Kitty pattern used on these flip flops! I almost want to color her in!

Cute hanger, right? Kitty-chan’s signature bow seems to tie them in nicely…

Detail of the Hello Kitty allover pattern…

Also making a debut soon… Some cheerful cherry themed Hello Kitty heels…

And wedges too! I actually love all the colors in this collection… Black is always easiest to match, but I would wear the yellow, red and pink pairs…

More flip flops!

Aren’t the extra details kawaii? Like the cherries and Hello Kitty charm on the flip flops…

Sneakers… These look super soft inside!

I like the sporty style of these… Looks comfy too!

But my *fave* part are the soles — which has a repeating bow pattern.

The Josephine sneakers are the best-sellers. These kicks are made of black quilted satin and vegan patent leather. I do like the embossed bows — and the material feels really high-end.

Here is a detail of the metal Kitty-chan face charm on the sneaker…

And the soles show off the same bow pattern just like the previous sneaker.

I wonder what the Junkies think about the Hello Kitty collection by Twenty10 Footwear… It’s pretty awesome that there is such a wide selection of styles to choose from — definitely excited to see more + more!

Speaking of seeing more… *spoiler alert* I walked by the Vans booth at AGENDA and my eyes spied Hello Kitty apparel inside their booth! @__@ I attempted to go in but was denied! x___X I needed to have previously booked an appointment… Waaa waaa! T___T But just know — there is something *NEW* coming from the Hello Kitty x Vans collabo! Keep an eye out… And if any Junkie knows anything, feel free to share with meee! n_~

ete! x Hello Kitty = Sweet & Stylish!

HK Guy and I usually chat online on a daily basis (sometime every other day). He is the one person I can count on to *always* share some fun Hello Kitty or kawaii-related links. He showed me the ete! x Hello Kitty collection!!!

Waaaa!!!! @____@ I am in L-O-V-E and I have been gushing over the sneakers all day long — mostly because I fell in love with the Adidas by Jeremy Scott panda plush sneakers and thought Kitty-chan was purrr-fect for this type of sneakers!

ete! x Hello Kitty collection will be available starting October 14, 2011 in China. Hmmm… I wonder how difficult it will be to get something from this collection — HK Guy already found the item I want for pre-order! o___O

Here is most of the collection…

My faves have to be the pair of red high-top platform sneakers! Seriously, this reminds me of my favorite pair of red high-top Reeboks I had as a child — but BETTER! What Junkie wouldn’t want to wear Kitty-chan plushie head and red bows on her sneakers!? Kawaii!!! @____@

The whole collection is pretty sweet and stylish… I.T EZHOP says,

ete! is a unique, exclusive and set a number of international brands in one of the young fashion handbags and accessories designed footwear stores, styles species diversity, for fashion is both to provide people with quality and comfortable footwear, handbags and accessories.

Hiking shoes?

Sparkly ballet flats… Yes, I want these too!! Totally reminds me of Dorothy’s ruby red slippers! n_~

The post in Trends’ On mentioned a free tote bag with a purchase of HKD $1,500… I believe the image below is the free gift with purchase…

iPhone 4 case with Swarovski bling!

Cutely designed heel lifts… And they are detachable too!

I really like the packaging…

Quilted handbags with not 1… Not 2… But 3 of Kitty’s bows!!! I like the super puffiness of these…

Not sure if this size is considered a tote bag — but looks big enough for me to carry my Hello Kitty things in! n_~

Furry/plushie handbag… The material looks very soft and cuddly!

Shopping bag with die cut and embroidered details…

Details… Makes me think this line is produced with good-great quality — I mean, the details say it all, no? The production just looks really clean — and I do not think it was all Photoshopped…

Cosmetic bags…

Shoe box is even kawaii! n___n

Some boots for the winter… Kitty’s face pattern is embossed on the suede…

Kawaii!? Is anybody going to hunt anything down from this collection?

About Dr. Martens
Dr. Martens air-cushioned sole, designed by German inventor, Klaus Maertens, was the result of practical thinking; it was designed to meet the specific need of providing additional support and comfort for a broken foot.

The Dr. Martens boot, manufactured by R Griggs and Co, British boot makers, with its trademark yellow stitch, grooved sole and heel-loop, was a boot for workers; comfortable, durable and lightweight in comparison to its competitors at the time. Initially worn by postmen, policemen and everyday workers, the boots were adopted, customised and used as a tribal emblem by successive subcultures, decade after decade. The 1460 became an immediately recognisable, UK product classic.

The brand is still a family owned business; it is operating from the same location in Northamptonshire, England where the Griggs family first started their shoe manufacturing business in 1901. Dr. Martens also have a creative studio in London, offices in USA and Asia, and an extensive global distribution network.

Random Hello Kitty Sightings…

I am the type of person who keeps setting things aside. No matter how hard I try, I cannot seem to stay on top of things. Anyway, these are some photos I have been meaning to post… I saw this Zucca magazine at Kinokuniya and there were a few pages that dealt with Hello Kitty. I could not understand it though… It was all in Japanese (*note to self:  at least get started on learning Japanese)…

Hello Kitty on Zucca

This was the inside of one of the activity books in the kids’ section… Yes, you too can draw Hello Kitty with these simple steps!

Hello Kitty Activity Book -- Draw Hello Kitty

I told Amandabot these are ghosts, and she corrected me! o_O Duh! How could I forget!? These are teru teru bozu, or Japanese rain dolls… Sanrio even made a character based on one. ^_^

Hello Kitty Activity Book

I wanted to share this oopsie I spotted! I wonder if someone at Sanrio got in trouble for this one…

Sanrio Oopsie

The artwork for the envelope was printed upside down… I still used it to send out to one of my pen pals. ^_^

While walking through the Valencia Town Center, I caught a glimpse of the wall of t-shirts inside Anchor Blue. There was a 2 for $30 USD sale going on for all the t’s, including this Hello Kitty witch t-shirt.

Hello Kitty Witch T-Shirt at Anchor Blue

And downstairs, I spotted this adorable little rain boot! Obviously, I cannot fit into these… And I think it is too premature to buy them for my daughter (I do not even have a boyfriend right now)… So, I was thinking about using one as a flower vase. What do you think? Could be kawaii, right!?

Pink Hello Kitty Rain Boots

And when I was at the Northridge Fashion Center, I saw this butterfly? plushie for the first time! I think she is a butterfly because she has the wings… But who knows!?

Hello Kitty Butterfly Plushie

And… I spotted some more of the winter holiday plushies! I wonder if there is a My Melody one out there too! o_O
