Hello Kitty Sightings in Chinatown and Downtown LA

October 2nd, 2008

Yesterday was Celina Rei’s Birthday! (you can still wish her a Happy Bday because we will be celebrating at her favorite Korean BBQ restaurant this weekend)…

It was also my hang-out-with-Jessica-Letti-and-Lonnie-day — which means dim sum, boba, shopping, Hello Kitty sightings — similar to what happened last time we hung out in Downtown.

Lonnie’s Kitty radar was super strong that day! She spotted this pink blinged out phone before me, which I think might be a tad bit embarrassing, right? Anyway, I ran after the girl (actually, more like power walked, lol) and told her I love Hello Kitty and I need to take a picture of her sidekick… I wish I was paying more attention so I could have gotten a better shot that included the front of her charm also.

We also spotted the usual stuff that you expect to find in Downtown LA…

There are also a bunch of craft shops in the area. We found spots where you can get rhinestones and Swarovski crystals for a price that is pretty close to wholesale (depending on how much you buy and how sharp your bargaining skills are). Possibly another project to put on my list of to-do’s…

And I got two surprise treats in Chinatown yesterday! The first is this Sanrio capsule toy machine I found inside Lollicup on Hill Street. I know it is such a small thing to be happily surprised by, but I was!

And the next surprise treat is… Hmmm… It is so special that it needs it’s own entry! ^_^

Finally… Hello Kitty Sightings at H&M

September 30th, 2008

I remember going to H&M with Joy and looking for Hello Kitty anything — shirt, socks, jewelry, lotion… With no luck! But I decided to try again because I kept reading about people finding Hello Kitty things for their kids in their local H&M. Well, here is what I spotted in the H&M (upstairs in the girls section) at the Westfield Topanga Shopping Center

Pink Hello Kitty Dress

Pink Hello Kitty Sweater Vest

Hello Kitty Skirt Overalls

Pink Kitty Hoodie

Long Sleeve Violet Hello Kitty Shirt

Kitty Jeans

Kitty Headband and Knitted Mittens

I was happy to see all this kittyness… But also a bit sad… I love this dress — but I have nobody to buy it for! And I know it is premature for me to buy clothing for my future daughter (I mean, I do not even have a boyfriend… Still!) I wish they made it in my size!

The only things I was able to pick up were some patches and hair things.

Kawaii undies! Hello Kitty has the big DJ headphones on — so cute!

I really like this too and I would rock it fasho!

All in all, I was not too impressed with the Hello Kitty stuff here. Yes, there are some very cute things and the price is reasonable… But I have mixed emotions for H&M (kind of like how I feel about Victoria Couture) — do not love it but do not hate it. Hopefully, H&M in the states will start to carry Hello Kitty products they sell in their European market…

On another note, I spotted a McCafe, which must be fairly new, near Neiman Marcus, which is also pretty new. I walked through the fine jewelry section but did not spot anything from the Kimore Lee Simmons for Hello Kitty line.

Gift Gate at SM Mall

Until I take photos of the Hello Kitty things I bought… And finish up the September wallpaper (which Molly reminded me… I know, I know)… Some eye candy I wanted to share:

Gift Gate at TriNoma

September 17th, 2008

I snapped some photos for your viewing pleasure… This Gift Gate was the first one I visited on my first day in the Philippines! The people were nice and I learned something here — it does not hurt to ask for a discount! If you have cash, you can get 10% — ask for a manager… If you pay with credit, 5%… Except of sale items. Check the sales aisle too — being one of the popular Gift Gates, they move merchandise regularly…

Hello Kitty at Kohl’s

August 20th, 2008

Yup, it’s true! I have been into my local Kohl’s before… I usually go in and don’t really find stuff I want. Which is very strange since Jessica and Joy are usually telling me about the great deals they score.

Sometime last week (I think it was last week) I went out to lunch with the ladies and Jessica and I went shopping (Hello Kitty looking) at Kohl’s. Jessica found a black Hello Kitty tank top for me! The price tag wasn’t marked down so it still had the original price of $18 (which I was not about to pay). So then, Jessica checked the price through the scanner and OMG! It scanned the top at $3.60 — I kid you not! You should have seen our faces! Lol… We looked like we heard Hello Kitty use the f* word… or something OUTRAAAGEOUS like that!

There were two, so I ended up buying both… At $3.60 each, can you really blame a girl? Also, I want to give the extra one to one of my special Hello Kitty buddies. ^_< I wore it yesterday — and took a picture for a guy I am currently developing a *crush* on… Oh gosh! He’s definitely a cutie! Did I mention he has dimples!? ^_^

The tank top is a Hello Kitty version of a skull and cross bones motif, but replaced by bows and hearts.

After finding out from one of the Hello Kitty Junkies that Kohl’s also carries other Hello Kitty merch, I decided I should browse the store one more time… Joy told me not to buy anything… I tried, really… But how can a Hello Kitty Junkie not buy this watch? Especially the last one out on the shelf!? And it was on sale… I know, I am terrible.

I also browsed the perfume aisle which is right next to the watches. And I saw Hello Kitty perfume! And of course, I immediately thought of Suzanne!

Got a whif of the spray stuff in the taller plastic container — not so good. But the perfume in the glass bottles smelled like yummy candy! Unfortunately, I kept hearing Joy’s voice in my head, so I slowly walked away… I will save it for the next time…
