Hello Kitty Sightings in Chinatown and Downtown LA
Yesterday was Celina Rei’s Birthday! (you can still wish her a Happy Bday because we will be celebrating at her favorite Korean BBQ restaurant this weekend)…
It was also my hang-out-with-Jessica-Letti-and-Lonnie-day — which means dim sum, boba, shopping, Hello Kitty sightings — similar to what happened last time we hung out in Downtown.
Lonnie’s Kitty radar was super strong that day! She spotted this pink blinged out phone before me, which I think might be a tad bit embarrassing, right? Anyway, I ran after the girl (actually, more like power walked, lol) and told her I love Hello Kitty and I need to take a picture of her sidekick… I wish I was paying more attention so I could have gotten a better shot that included the front of her charm also.
We also spotted the usual stuff that you expect to find in Downtown LA…
There are also a bunch of craft shops in the area. We found spots where you can get rhinestones and Swarovski crystals for a price that is pretty close to wholesale (depending on how much you buy and how sharp your bargaining skills are). Possibly another project to put on my list of to-do’s…
And I got two surprise treats in Chinatown yesterday! The first is this Sanrio capsule toy machine I found inside Lollicup on Hill Street. I know it is such a small thing to be happily surprised by, but I was!
Here is the mirror I got:
And the next surprise treat is… Hmmm… It is so special that it needs it’s own entry! ^_^

Yes, I am for real. Like the ring pictured below?
Have an extra $4,250 USD handy? I know I do not… I guess I could visit Bag Barrow or Steal and pay $137/week or $379/month (Member pricing = $100/week or $295/month) to “barrow” this pretty little diamond ring… It is exactly like what Louise (Jennifer Hudson’s charcater) did with her purse in the Sex and the City movie.
Can’t Get Enough of Happy Six
I really cannot get enough of Happy Six. It is totally kawaii overload in that shop. I love the “Save Our ANIMALS” shirt Amandabot is holding up (made by Public Library). I have a plushie of the Hello Kitty dressed up as a lion!
I saw this tokidoki shirt as we were walking out of the store… Everything tokidoki has been creating is super-kawaii since day one! This is Donuttella (Simone Legno’s characters also have the cutest names):
Pink and brown Hello Kitty iPod case…
Same case turned around. I did not really like this too much. This pink and brown design is a new series of bags and luggages so there is more… Maybe it has to grow on me? Anyway, I don’t think I like the star in her other ear either.

The Happy Six jewelry case:
There were a few shelves devoted to Hello Kitty…
Hello Kitty x Tarina Tarantino… Btw, there is a Sparkling Summer Sale going on — up to 60% off — until June 9th… I wish I had $$$…
I have been noticing that every time I go into Happy Six, more and more Hello Kitty and tokidoki merch is stocked. Hello Kitty even has her own designated spot:
Not as much Hello Kitty as you can find in your Sanrio shop, but enough to keep me coming back, just in case.

New arrivals from Kimora Lee Simmons for Hello Kitty on Sanrio. I did not see them available on Kimora Lee Simmons for Hello Kitty or Neiman Marcus yet. It seems like this collection just released is a little bit less expensive than previous releases. Prices range from $350 to $1295 USD.
Hello Kitty diamond and satin silver ring:
I love the cute details on this flower ring:
Diamonds, sapphires and mother of pearl, oh my!
Watches come in a super cute pink case:
Hello Kitty diamond and satin silver pendents/necklaces:
Diamonds, pink sapphires and silver flower medallion and charm bracelet (love the charm bracelet):
Black diamond silhouette pendent and back clasp:

My number one favorite place to find knock-off Hello Kitty stuff is in Downtown LA… My second favorite place is Venice. I spotted these shorts at one of the shops on the Venice boardwalk…

I saw these necklaces in another shop…

If you go to Venice, make sure to keep an eye out for bags too — there are plenty of Hello Kitty bags (girls’ backpacks and cute little purses)… It’s kinda fun to spot them out — even though my sister gets annoyed with me very easily and tries to ignore me… I always point out Hello Kitty to her.
