Hello Kitty Con Preview/VIP Night Recap

It’s been almost two weeks since Hello Kitty Con! I miss it so much — what a truly amazing time! I was literally in Hello Kitty Heaven! =^_^=

Here are some photos from the preview night/VIP party that was held on Wednesday, October 29th!

For the preview night, I was allowed a +1 and so I was happy to go with my fellow Junkie Jordan! We decided to be early birds because we were too anxious! Here is the lovely banner welcoming everyone.

Ahhh! Huge Hello Kitty with rainbow behind her! <3 <3 <3

We spotted the Hello Kitty Cafe truck and decided to check out the menu. Isn’t the truck supercute? I would LOVE to wrap my car in Hello Kitty graphics and drive it around! =^_^=

Here is the Hello Kitty Cafe Menu — prices for the kittilicious items ranged from $3 – $15. With purchases of $25/more, you received a free bag (while supplies lasted).

HK Con edition bow water bottle, 40th limited edition petit 4 mini cakes and 5 piece macaron box…

Hello Kitty apple costume cake pops!

Mmm… Donuts!

And guess who I met that night!?!? Mr. HKH!!! I was SO excited! He even let me take a picture with him! He has an awesome blog — makes me laugh (on the inside and out loud) and he is part of my inspiration when I first started blogging!

Here is the lovely Jordan…

We posed on the red carpet so we can get an outfit shot. We are both sporting our Chubby Bunny red bows we got during Three Apples! Jordan is wearing Japan LA for Hello Kitty Favorite Things kimono and black tokidoki for Hello Kitty handbag. I was in my Japan LA for tokidoki x Hello Kitty Pharaoh boxy top, Hello Kitty vintage print patent embossed mini city bag by Loungefly, giant Cicely Margo bow ring (which Jordan actually gifted me for a Bday one year) and brown Minnetonka x Hello Kitty fringe boots.

We saw the adorable lolitas and of course, we must pose with these cuties!

We ran into Taft! Our Hello Kitty friend we met during Three Apples!

As soon as we entered inside The Geffen Contemporary at MOCA, we saw the cutest ATM’s! Isn’t the artwork just darling!?

We saw a large Kitty inside a teacup so that obviously meant we needed to be in a photo with her!

Spotted this cutie wearing Japan LA for The Simpsons x Hello Kitty collaboration!

We saw the fashions of Lovely Kitty Wonder and live models walking around in the kittitastic ensembles!

Her whole outfit was so amazing — including red hair bow and her Jeffrey Campbells!

Hello Kitty wedding gowns… Hmmm… Should I show my bf? n_~

I thought this dress was so creative! It also reminds me of a birdcage but it is so freakin’ cool!

Jordan and I were eager to see everything so we headed on upstairs to the pop-up shop. There, I spotted my friend Julie (I met her and her lovely daughter when I had the pleasure of checking out Hello Kitty x Eva Air plane at LAX).

I also noticed that tokidoki x Hello Kitty was well represented inside Hello Kitty Friendship Station pop-up shop!

My friend Jaycee was upstairs too — doing a little interview for the local KCAL 9 (CBS) news (and right in front of the cute plushes)!

Here I am with Jordan and Jaycee just freaking out over kawaii Kitty overload! @___@

We made our way over to the Super Supermarket… And you won’t believe who else I saw! The one and only Nitrolicious! She is one of my fave bloggers — such a stylish being! And she was supernice and I got to take a photo with her in front of the Beats by Dre booth (and yes, those are a pair of Solo2 headphones that she is rockin’ around her neck).

Jordan and I each got an original drawing from one of the artists from Sanrio Japan.

Jordan also got this exclusive and limited super blinged out Swarovski encrusted Hello Kitty ruby solid perfume cocktail ring from Sephora! *____* Yes, I was pretty *jelly* especially since it was limited to 275 pieces and came with a certificate of authenticity!

I adore Kitty-chan’s dress! This is her pastel dress featuring a polka dots and tiny chums design.

And did you know there was Hello Kitty toilet paper in the bathroom? o___O I did not want to use it to wipe… But I had to! When I took a bit longer than usual to get out of the stall, Jordan yelled out, “Maria! Stop taking pictures!” Oh, She knows me too well… I guess I should be happy she didn’t think I was stealing it.

The party was more crowded as it got later into the night.

Isn’t Jaycee’s outfit so kawaii? And look at Chrissa Sparkles — she is always a shining star!

Kittilicious sweets were served…

Back inside, there was a Hello Kitty money machine/cash cube. There was pretend paper money inside the box — all of them white except for about three green ones. I only saw one tho! I don’t remember how much time you get, but when you’re inside the box, the air turns on and the money flies and if you catch the green one, you get a prize. Do you think I caught a green one? You will have to wait for a future post to see if I won a prize…

I was able to spot *Super Jill* and her friend with the awesome custom dress — I cannot help but to love Kitty-chan as food — hamburger, hot dog, french fries, milkshake… Mmmm… Getting hungry now. 😛

Oh, hey! Hello HK Guy! He was wearing a Hello Kitty tie and black Chubby Bunny bow! ^_^

Big Hello Kitty slippers?

Photo op with Bellerina!

There’s Grace — taking a break and watching all of our bags…

More friends I met during Three Apples — Stephanie and Robyn!

1033_hellokitty_con_preview_vip_night_42Oh boy! What a fun night! I am still working on organizing my images so I can share my kittilicious experience — please check back soon! =^_^=

California HKJ Craft Meet-Up 2011 Recap

California HKJ Craft Meet-Up 2011 took place on a wet and rainy Sunday afternoon (11/20/2011) at JapanLA (7320 1/2 Melrose Ave., Los Angeles, CA 90046)! *Jordan* did an amazing job organizing our meet-up and it was SO much kittitastic fun hanging out with the Junkies!

There was a lot of food (Mmmm… Porto’s, my fave bakery — I wish my neighborhood had something this yummy)! There was a lot of Hello Kitty Holiday card making! And can you believe we even did a swap!? And as an extra added *BONUS* we got special goody bags from the Super Marketing Sanrio peeps AND a 10% Junkies discount on any purchase made at JapanLA that day!!

Here is *Jordan* making sure all the Junkies are working hard on their Hello Kitty Holiday cards…

My contribution was a felt Hello Kitty snowman card…

And too many pre-cut Hello Kitty bows (my hands hurt so bad from cutting the small ones)… But it was worth it because Belle actually enjoyed them… n___n

So many beautiful creations…

I mentioned that we did a little swap, right? Grace got my gift!

Check out more photos of the event below! n__n

Loungefly Summer Sample Sale Recap Part 1

I have known about Sample Sales for at least a decade now *pretty common in the LA area*… But this was my very first time ever attending one! And *OH BOY*!!! Did my arms hurt from carrying sooooo many kawaii merch back to my car! n_~ It was definitely worth waking up early in the morning for! I was super anxious… Like I was going to my Bday party or something! @___@

I planned on being at the Loungefly Warehouse at 9:00 am sharp… But as you know, I like to sleep *oopsie* so I showed up around 9:30 am. What a mistake! o___O Jordan already did most of her shopping! And I saw Ruth with two boxes filled with Hello Kitty x Loungefly merch! She even told me that her sister Nancy put a box in the car AND ran to get more cash… *Lesson I have learned way too many times: Early bird does get the worm.*

Definitely a great crowd! Everyone was actually nice or maybe I was too overwhelmed to see anyone fighting over anything? I would even ask people to please let me know if they saw any Hello Kitty stuff while everyone was digging in the boxes… Lucky for me, I had my fellow Junkies, Jordan, Jenna, Ruth and Tanya lookin’ out for me! And the music was dooope! Almost like I was at a party. n___n

I posted a couple of pix on facebook to share in real time and I found out your fb friends love to comment when you are busy shopping. n_~ I tried really hard to take pix of things while I was looking… *Sorry* waaaay too difficult! I had to have the full experience of exploring and finding my stuff, you know? But when I felt like I had searched high and low for all things Hello Kitty x Loungefly, I did snap a few more… This is what my pile looked like before I got a box to put them in…

After we were *kinda* finished shopping, Jordan and I ordered the Hawaiian Bread Cinnamon French Toast Sticks and Housemade Cake Donuts from the Buttermilk Truck… But since I was only *kinda* finished, I went back for more! @___@ You know I cannot resist a sale on Kitty-chan stuff, so I *HAD TO* make sure I did not miss anything! n_~

Purrr-fect timing! There were new Hello Kitty x Loungefly totes that had been put out!!! Can you believe the Hello Kitty Love Letter tote was only $10!? Jenna is a good shopper — she spotted some majorly kawaii tote bags… She was nice enough to eye which ones I would want and save a few of each designs so we can go through and inspect them! n___n

So… I ended up grabbing a couple a few several *A LOT* of tote bags… And that was enough… For now. n_~

Got a group pic with some Junkies that you may be familiar with… The regulars: Jordan and Jenna and meee!

Here is a preview of a few things I was lucky enough to scoop up! Likey? n___n

These are a couple of my *faves* — super kawaii key caps, right!? My orange head Kitty was getting dirty so I found a substitute til she gets cleaned up! n_~

Be on the look-out for Part 2 when I tell you about my official Loungefly Headquarters tour and close up detailed views of my new Hello Kitty things!

P.S. If you are a Junkie, You should have already seen The Loungefly Sample Sale… Yeah, Jordan *ALWAYS* posts her blogs before me! I think she wants to steal my glory! n_~ And make sure you check out Jenna’s haul too!

Domo arigato to the Loungefly crew!!! Everybody was super duper nice… I am in love *obviously*!

Sanrio 50th Anniversary Product Preview

This past Saturday night, I was able to attend Haus of Super Shimmer JapanLA’s 4 Year Anniversary Extravaganza at Space 15 Twenty in Hollywood! JapanLA + Bubble Punch + kawaii girls in shiny outfits + *EXCLUSIVE* Sanrio 50th Anniversary merch preview… Yeah, this was a pretty dope party and it was one of those not-to-miss events. If you don’t believe me, feel free to ask Jordan, Jeanne, Jenna, Mariko, etc… I had the privilege to view some super kawaii *Sanrio* goodies… n_n

Hello Kitty x Girl Skateboard Co. deck… I saw the prototype last year during the Three Apples event — really pleased that these skateboards garnered enough interest to go into production! And the awesome thing is, they are available at JapanLA now! @____@

Sanrio x Brunswick bowling balls!!! I had *NO IDEA* about this collaboration! o_O My Sanrio connects sure know how to keep their secrets and surprises!!! *_____*

I did not take super awesome photos *sad face* but I can describe the detail… The red part actually has a cute pattern made of Kitty-chan’s outline — similar style to this iPhone case

I am the type of person who will inspect the same plushes out in a store just so I can have the best looking one… So it’s no surprise that I was starring at the dividing line on this ball! O_O Jordan had to remind me that this is just a prototype… I came to the conclusion that it must be very difficult to print on a sphere because there is some distortion in the characters. I am crossing my fingers that this kawaii pattern gets aligned correctly and there will be less distortion.

Sanrio x Demeter Fragrance — on display but I did not get to smell! x_X I guess I gotta get myself over to Sanrio or Urban Outfitters since they are available now! I was told they *smell like a Sanrio shop* Hmmm… I hope that means it will smell pink and sweet! n_n

Hello Kitty x Aerial7 headphones… I wish I knew about these! I treated myself to the tokidoki Skullcandy Ti Stereo Headphones last year, which I adore… But you know me — I *always* want the Hello Kitty “product” over anything else… Oh well, maybe I can have two headphones? One for work and one for home?

Sanrio x Dr. Martens!!! @___@ I think the most practical pair for me are the black and pink mary janes… But I am not practical! o_O I want the 8-eye boots with the allover Sanrio characters pattern…

I mean, they are just too cute, right!? *sigh*

Just in case you have not read the press release yet, read PR Newswires’ SANRIO Celebrates 50 Years… The most interesting parts I read,

Collaborations & Products: As a “thank you” to their ever-loyal fans, SANRIO plans to unveil special co-branded collections, starting this summer with SANRIO x Dr. Martens.  Signature Dr. Martens 8-eye boots & mary jane strap shoes will be bestowed a trademark Hello Kitty bow for this limited edition collection.  Collaborations with a diverse group of brands including Brunswick, Girl Skateboard Co., Aerial7, Lomography, Demeter Fragrance, Mimobots, and Build-A-Bear Workshop will launch a plethora of amazing products at retail partners worldwide, featuring an assortment of SANRIO characters. A benchmark of SANRIO’s 50th Anniversary will include iconic characters appearing together for the first time ever (outside of SANRIO’s Harmonyland and Puroland theme parks in Japan), on products including the 8-eye Dr. Martens boot, a Brunswick bowling ball,  iPhone cases, apparel, accessories and many other unique products.  There will be plenty of signature “small gift” items at market as well, including pens and notebooks, coin purses, key caps & lunch cases…

Upcoming Events: In addition to in-store celebrations, contests, giveaways and gifts with purchase programs, SANRIO will host a series of events across the country, each with a pop-up shop offering additional limited-edition SANRIO 50th Anniversary items.  For the truly die-hard fans, there will be a short film contest and an iPhone app that will alert them about limited-edition product releases.  Surprise interactive get-togethers and other special anniversary events and contests will be announced online, and fans will have the opportunity to keep up to date on new products and events at www.sanrio.com as well as virally on Facebook and Twitter

Events across the country!?!?!?! Short film contest!? Surprise interactive get-togethers!? @__@ How kittirific! I am wondering if Sanrio’s 50th Anniversary will be bigger than Kitty-chans’s 35th Anniversary last year… It would be hard to top Three Apples from last year IMO…

Very happy to have some info about Sanrio’s 50th and I look forward to reading more news! If you know of any thing I don’t — feel free to share and discuss over at Hello Kitty Junkies! =n_n=

Summer Hello Kitty Treat from Jordan

Summer has not technically started yet, but it already feels like *summa summa summatime* — especially on Sunday during the UCLA Jazz and Reggae Festival! I caught some sun, music and Jordan during Jam Day… So happy that Jordan got there super early! We sat in front of the stage where all the action was taking place! Got a nice Hello Kitty surprise from her too… Yes, she is too sweet to me! n_n

Such a cute bag, right?

A hand-made Hello Kitty card <3 and a sheet of tattoos that I dunno how to put on yet… o_O

Jordan has an awesome memory — I remember telling her that I really *NEEDED* this cute cupcake plushie… Saw it at Target so long ago, but never bought one for myself… Thank goodness for Jordan, she is such a Junkie and totally understands my obsession! lol… o_O

Kawaii stationery for me! Cinnamoroll <3 and Kitty-chan <3

And what’s a surprise without some sweets? I got a cola flavored lollipop and kawaii ice cream shaped lip gloss!

This lip gloss is cherry scented and comes with a tiny brush to apply with! n_~

Domo arigato Jordan! n_n

Sanrio Bday Treats from Hello Kitty Junkies, Part 3

One time *not long ago* my friend Celina Rei told me that my “internet” friends are not “real friends.” And I did not quite understand her statement… But the more I thought about it, the more I understood why she said that. I must admit this: I am the only one in my circle of friends who has met as many “internet” friends as I have… My guesstimate is about 30+ “internet” friends in the past couple of years (and by “internet” friends, I mean my social network buddies, Hello Kitty Junkies, blog readers, etc.). Considering how paranoid I can be sometimes, this is kinda strange… Or is it? o_O

One of the first Junkies I ever met was Jordan. She is an *awesome* Junkie and all around kittirific friend! *She constantly listens to me complain.* I did have a cozy un-Birthday celebration (no February 29th this year) and she was able to attend… And yup, you guessed it! She spoiled me with a kittilicious prezzie! =n_n=

Jordan is the one of the crafty and creative Junkies… Look what she made for me!? Kawaii! *___*

How freakin’ thoughtful of her! And she knows I love photos of myself, hehehe! n_~

She gave me this super cute Together with Hello Kitty paper fan! Actually, I do not know what the correct name for this collabo is… Can anyone help me out please? n_n

What’s inside this Kitty decorated box?

Squishy Hello Kitty dessert keychain! n_n

And the giant Cicely Margo bow ring which I totally wanted from the Three Apples Fashion Show!!! *_____*

Does it look good on me!? n_~

Jordan = too sweet! *Very lucky to have her as my kemosabe* @___@

Thank you Jordan!!!

Hello Kitty Junkies’ Craft Meet-Up Recap

Domo arigato to all the Hello Kitty Junkies who came out to the HKJs Craft Meet-Up! And a super special thanks to *Jordan* for organizing the event! She did an AWESOME JOB — so awesome that I am officially putting her in charge of organizing any future craft meet-ups! n_~

*True story* I arrived at the parking lot near the Japanese American National Museum just as Jordan and Cynthia did… And it was also the exact same time that my super a-maaa-zing Creative Director boss, Joel, and his beautiful family arrived! I was kinda embarrassed… I mean, people I know in real life KNOW about my addiction/infatuation/obsession, but rarely do they SEE it in person! O_O I guess I cannot hide my true self anymore! As any Junkie would do, I invited Joel and his beautiful fam to come stop by the craft meet-up… And they did! Since baby Chloe is not even two yet, she could not really join the crafting fun. o_O But I think she liked the lollipop I gave her… What baby doesn’t like candy? n_n

Anyway, Joel told everyone during the Monday morning meeting about my Hello Kitty meet-up… Which means I am a validated Hello Kitty Junkie… =n_n=

Here are some photos from the event:

Amber takes her time to choose the perfect stationery for her Valentines…

Sarah and Liz get creative with their crafts…

*I stole Jewelyn‘s photo* because she is so kawaii and you can see my D-Mop x Kitty Lab outfit I got from Taipei! @____@

Chelsea picked out my gift during the gift exchange, which was a Hello Kitty ocarina! She played “Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star” so well that I requested Lady GaGa!

Carla lucked out by choosing this cuuute cupcake Hello Kitty plushie! Remember this from Target last year? I think it was available around this time of year… Yes, I was *jelly*

This is what I got from the gift exchange — thanks to HKGuy!

Ana (wish I had her kawaii dimples) and Christina (wish I could dye my hair that color) had fun! *Smiles* don’t lie! 🙂 🙂

Monica won a super kawaii plushie from the raffle! Ahhhh!!! I was so *jelly* @____@

Hello Kitty Junkies get their craft on!

My Valentines… Who will I give them to!?

Isn’t Amber‘s Valentine so cuuute!?

Toki-chan got creative with some origami skills!

Another Toki-chan creation…

I am *totally* stealing this idea! n_n

So much cuteness!

We did manage to get a partial group shot before we headed out to my *fave* Sanrio shop… I made a quick stop to pick up a new *Gotochi Hello Kitty* book from Kinokuniya @____@ before I headed on over to JapanLA… And then lastly to Lala’s Argentine Grill! ;P Hopefully we can meet up again soon!

Check out all of my photos from this event! n_n

Please RSVP for this not to be missed event.

Here is an example of a “friendship blossom” craft we plan on making (sample provided by Jordan):

Hope to see my Hello Kitty Junkies at the end of the month! Feel free to contact Jordan if you have any questions! n_n

Hello Kitty Meet the Artists Party Racep

My *fave* event from Three Apples was Saturday, November 7, 2009 — Hello Kitty Meet the Artists Day! This was by far the best day! Obviously my opinion but I have very good reason why I loved this day soOoOo much! @_@

I had been working a lot (everyday for the past several weeks) but I always looked forward to Saturdays! I did not enjoy the waking up early part — I had to be down in Culver City by 9:30am on a weekend… I am not exactly a “morning person.” The good part:  being able to choose an original art piece from Buff Monster‘s Series 2 panels!

As you may already know, Buff Monster is an amazing contemporary artist who created a painting and prints for the Three Apples show along with a series of 35 10″x10″ wooden panels. His series was so popular that a second series followed. This series was released on the Artists Day and since I missed out on the first series, I kind of gave in to peer pressure and bought a panel! Very hard not to buy one when Bellerina and Jordan and Jamie and Jenna and Jill and Christian and etc… bought one… And also, I met Buff Monster and he is so cool and cute and nice and cute and funny and cute and really smart and cute and loves Hello Kitty… And did I mention he is cute!? n_~ Seriously, he is a really talented artist and I wanted to show my love and support!

Can you guess which one is mine!?

Hello Kitty 35th Anniversary Three Apples Buff Monster Series 2 Panels

I actually spent a lot of the morning taking orders for these panels. During this time, I got to meet some new Hello Kitty buddies who collect art! I met Adrienne and Jolene — they both helped me to pick out the panel. I also met Robyn — yes, her name is spelled just like Robyn, the pop singer — remember Do You Know (What It Takes) from back in the day!? (I still have that cd single somewhere…) n_n

Ok, I guess right now would be a good time to share why exactly the Artists Day was the best for me. I started off meeting some really awesome people — and it really seemed genuine… I felt that throughout the whole entire day! I also saw the amazing Three Apples crew — Supa Jill, Supa Dave, Christian, Susan, Jamie, Vance… And you know I adore all of them (like to the 7645272934568th degree)! n_n

More original artwork released that day by Plasticgod — another super popular artist! How popular, you ask? Popular enough to make several series of these adorable 4″x4″ Kitties! So far, there are: Series 1 (19 designs), Series 2 (24 designs), Goth Series (9 designs), Series 3 (27 designs)! Each of the designs are limited editions of only 35! Oh My Kittiness!!! That sure are A LOT of Kitties!!! @_@ Which are your *faves*!? For me, there are just waaay too many kawaii Kitties to even pick out a handful! o_O

Hello Kitty 35th Anniversary Three Apples Plasticgod Series 2

My photo does not do Plasticgod any justice *sorry* so please look at JapanLA’s site for all the juicy details!

These 16 10″x10″ panels by Chase were also released!

Peekaboo Monster got his live painting on… Btw, there are still a limited amount of his “Kitty Got Space Swag” prints available! Very dope title, huh? My buddy Taft (left) was there to make sure the artists had everything they needed…

I saw Jeanne! How is she always this cute!? @_@

I got a photo with the kawaii lolita girls! @_@ I am pretty sure that the panda-hat-wearing Julie is THE KAWAII-EST doll ever! Yes — doll! n_n She is always, I mean *ALWAYS* freaking’ adorable!

Hello Kitty 35th Anniversary Three Apples with Kawaii Lolitas

So happy I got to meet Pop (such a hottie) and Ash (super cool guy) — they bought a few Buff Monster panels for their Sahbu Shabu restaurant which is scheduled to be open soon! ;P

And it was a real pleasure to meet the artists who had works up on display! I was soooo happy! You know how you feel at the end of the school year when you go around to all your friends with your yearbook and have them sign it!? Kinda silly, right? But I promise it was SOOO MUCH FUN!!! If you do not believe me, ask Bellerina and Jenna and Dorothy and Angela!? ;D

My fellow Hello Kitty Junkie Mimi came down from the Bay Area with her husband! It was so amazing to meet her in person — I just wish she came earlier! n_n

The amazing Misha!

Hello Kitty 35th Anniversary Three Apples with Artist Misha

Misha‘s “Hello Venus” is one of my *faves* from the show — hard not to have a few *faves* since so much of the artwork was a-maaazing! n_~ She obviously knows about Art History and Botticelli and The Birth of Venus — she should totally be an Art History professor! Seriously, wouldn’t that be interesting? I know I would not have fallen asleep as much as I did back in the day when I was in school!

After I talked to Misha, I have to move “Hello Bast” into my *faves* category too! I just really love that she incorporated other Sanrio characters in this piece… Can you spot Kuromi? Keroppi? My Melody? Who else!? n_~

I *heart* Simone and I told him! I am just sad that I forgot to tell him I was wearing the über kawaii pink puffy sleeved Donutella Kitty t-shirt! o_O I must have been too excited!!!

Camilla d’Erricco <3 She was incredibly sweet! And her painting was one of my *faves* from the show… Like I get anxious because I did not buy her “Hello My Kitty Land” print and it is still available! What to do… What to do!? o_O

This was what she created during her live painting session… It was auctioned off and I know the girlie who won it! *jelly*

Hmmm… I am probably leaving out a lot (although it does not feel like it)… If you have not already, please read Bellerina’s 3 Apples – Day 6 “Artists Party” because she is awesome! n_n
